TOPIC: Chemidex – “The Formulator’s Search Engine”
ABSTRACT:
Background: The Chemidex® Cybrary™ (www.chemidex.com) is a FREE internet-based search engine designed specifically for use by chemists and formulators. It accelerates the exchange of technical information between chemical suppliers and formulated-product manufacturers. The Chemidex Cybrary is the chemical industry’s largest technical document repository, providing continuously updated raw material technical data sheets, MSDS, starting point formulations and product bulletins from over 800 of the world’s leading chemical companies. An expedited sample request from each of these companies is a mouse click away. As a unique tool containing over 200,000 technical data sheets, Chemidex has garnered the enthusiasm of chemists throughout the world and earned the trust of the chemical companies.
Presentation: The presentation will focus on the Chemidex Cybrary’s functionality, which is built around five powerful search engines. These proprietary engines enable the formulator to locate raw materials by company name, product name, trade name, product type, INCI name, as well as physical property criteria, end-use application, starting point formulation and starting point formulation performance criteria. Requesting samples and communicating directly with technical experts from multiple suppliers is now as easy as a click of a button. With the answers less than three clicks away Chemidex speeds formulators’ product development and reduces the time-to-market for new products.
The Chemidex Cybrary was introduced to the marketplace in 1997. Chemidex’s first market was the Paint and Coatings industry. Today, the Chemidex Cybrary serves the Paint and Coatings, Adhesive and Sealants, Graphic Arts and Ink, Food and Beverage, Personal Care and Cosmetics, and Household, Industrial, and Institutional Cleaners industries in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Chemidex’s supplier list is comprehensive, including such industry leaders as 3M, Akzo Nobel, BASF, Ciba, Cognis, Croda, Dow Chemical, Rhodia, Rohm and Haas and Stepan.

TOPIC: OVERVIEW OF REACH AND HOW IT AFFECTS THE COSMETIC INDUSTRY
ABSTRACT:

The impact of this new regulation on the cosmetics industry, including both positive and negative aspects, will be reviewed.
