Topic: Biodiversity Preservation in the Cosmetics Industry
The continuously rising consumer demand for cosmetic products with global naturality includes the request for natural ingredients and sustainable products. It speedily accelerated in unprecedented times of the covid-19 pandemic and will have a lasting impact, i.e. “new normal”. One of the key pillars of sustainability is the environmental aspect with the respect and protection of the planet, and with the critical goal of biodiversity preservation. There is a growing demand to live in harmony with nature with the desire to personally contribute to ethical sourcing and the safeguard of biodiversity. With sophisticated conscious and well-informed consumers, biodiversity is a growing crucial issue for the cosmetics industry if they want to meet consumer expectations and thrive. This presentation will review how biodiversity is important for our well-being, the state of the current situation, and actions to preserve it. A focus on natural cosmetics and biodiversity will be presented.
Pascal Yvon, PharmD, MBA, has over 25 years of global experience in the life sciences industries. He has worked for global corporations as well as start-ups in sales, marketing, and general management positions. He has authored many cosmetic trade journal articles and regularly speaks at leading industry events and conferences.
Dr. Yvon holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the Pharmacy University, Paris, and an Executive MBA from Rutgers university, NJ. He is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, NY Chapter.
